Song of Zorba

Song of Zorba

Song of Zorba ” is a limited-edition bronze sculpture bearing the engraved signature of the internationally recognized actor and artist, Anthony Quinn.

Anthony Quinn hand sculpted an original clay maquette, on a wire armature, of himself, in the costuming and dance pose best identified with his most famous role as Zorba.

The original clay maquette was then cast into solid bronze and patinated, by the authority of, and, under the direct supervision of Anthony Quinn, who indicated his approval by inscribing his name onto the sculpture.

This sculpture is approximately 22” tall and is mounted on a marble base and is individually numbered PC 28/49.

The highly respected Tallix Foundry in Peekskill, New York worked with the artist in creating the moulds from which the bronze casting was executed.

Mr. Quinn, along with Dr. Mett, personally presented this special work of art to Mr. Quinn’s longtime friend, President Ronald Reagan, in an official ceremony in The Oval Office of the White House, in October of 1984.

Song of Zorba” was one of two closely related sculptures by
Anthony Quinn; the other similar work, in a different pose, was titled,
Spirit of Zorba.”  Collectively the two sculptures are known as
“The Presidential Collection.”
